Who we are

Chris is a former dairy farmer who transitioned into landscaping after 26 years in the dairy industry, including time spent representing farmers through challenging periods. Reaching a point of burnout, he recognised the need for a change to prioritise his health, family, and overall wellbeing.

He swapped cows for garden beds, and together with his wife Jodi, now runs Garden Masters, a small business offering end-to-end garden design, landscaping, and lawn-mowing services. What began as mowing a neighbour’s lawn in Rolleston has grown into a thriving business with a team of six.

The shift from the security of regular milk cheques to the unpredictability of small-business ownership required resilience, patience, and determination. Chris approaches each challenge as an opportunity and keeps grounded through the simple habit of writing things down — a practice that helps keep perspective.

Their journey highlights the value of embracing change and building something meaningful from the ground up. Today, Chris and Jodi focus on delivering reliable, high-quality landscaping services and creating outdoor spaces that truly enhance the way people live.
